"Braveheart" star Mel Gibson has announced the couple plan to call the infant Lucia.
Mel Gibson became a father for the eighth time on Friday when his girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, gave birth to a baby girl at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles.
A representative for Mel confirmed: "Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson welcomed the arrival of a baby girl named Lucia on Friday, at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles."
A source on set said: "Everyone sang 'For He's A Jolly Good Fellow' and he blushed."
A friend added: "Everything is great! They couldn't be happier. Everyone's healthy and thrilled. He loves it!"
Although this is their first child together, both Mel and Oksana, 39, are already parents.
The star has six sons and a daughter with former wife Robyn - who filed for divorce in April this year after 28 years of marriage - while Oskana has a 12-year-old son Alexander with actor Timothy Dalton.
