Dominican Republic intensifies campaign against dengue

The Dominican Republic's Health Ministry announced Thursday to intensify the campaign against the dengue, which has killed 41 people in the country.

According to news reaching here from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic's Health Minister Bautista Rojas said the health program will cover all the towns and cities aided by the neighbors boards.

The campaign includes cleaning the inhabited estates and patios of the houses in order to impede habitats for the Aedes Aegypty mosquito, carrier of the disease.

The health authorities will also reinforce the awareness campaign about preventive measures and what to do in case of infection suspicion, Rojas said.

The dengue has infected almost 4,000 people in the Dominican Republic.
