Over 50,000 in Chicago vaccinated against A/H1N1 flu in a week

Almost 51,000 people in Chicago, the third largest city in the United States, have been vaccinated against A/H1N1 flu in the past seven days, health officials said Monday.

More than 8,200 doses of the vaccine were delivered during the last weekend and the vaccinations are still available for free to residents of the city at increased risk for A/H1N1 flu and flu complications.

According to the Department of Public Health, there are seven vaccine sites across the city.

Health officials said those considered high-risk include pregnant women, people 6 months to 24 years of age, people who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months and adults with certain health conditions.
