According to AP, a cat named Oscar who lives in a nursing home in America has precisely predicted more than 50 deaths in the past 5 years. He is regarded as the harbinger of death.

Oscar came to the nursing home in 2005. One year later, medical staff found that Oscar likes to patrol the rooms of sick patients one by one, but he wouldn’t usually stay for long. However, when he found a dying patient, he would stay with them for their last hours. Even if the door is closed, he will try and claw his way in.

His predictions are usually more precise than the medical staff. So if Oscar is discovered staying with somebody, staff know it’s time to call the patient’s family. The families usually appreciated what Oscar has done since they can not accompany the patients. They family members would also get some comfort from the cats’ presence.

As early as 2007, a professor published a thesis in which he predicted that the cat was just like some dogs, in that he can smell the death cells in the patients’ body. The professor also theorized that the cat chooses to stay with the patients to imitate his host, the medical staff’s actions.
