Jili Village: birth place of Huzhou Silk

According to the historical records, Jili village began to raise silkworms and reel silk in the end of the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368), and in the middle period of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), silk made in Jili was chosen to be the material of the emperors' clothes. Nowadays, the manufacture of silk is mechanized but the silkworm eggs bred by the forefathers and the technique of raising silkworms became a valuable legacy to the village.
