China's unique red rock landform included on World Heritage List

China's Danxia landform, a type of red rock mountains unique to China, was authorized by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to be added to the World Heritage List during the 34th World Heritage Convention held in Brasilia on August 1.
China now has 40 world heritage sites on the list.
"China Danxia" is a project in which China prepared a package of six Danxia landforms to be declared a world's natural heritage. The six Danxia landforms are Taining in Fujian Province, Langshan Mountain in Hunan Province, Danxiashan in Guangdong Province, Longhushan in Jiangxi Province, Jianglangshan in Zhejiang Province and Chishui in Guizhou Province. They comprehensively demonstrate the formation and evolution of the Danxia landforms.
Wang Zhiguang, an official from the six provinces' world heritage declaration office, said, "China Danxia is a pearl in the world heritages. We must protect the pearl, make it even brighter and make great efforts to achieve the sustainable development of the world heritage sites."
