Once upon a time, China's youth were used to spending all of their salary in a month without saving, but now, the post-1980s generation, representing China's youth, is taking a turn toward a more frugal lifestyle.

A netizen published an article on the Internet titled, "How I live a better life on a salary of 1,200 yuan per month" and told his story of being thrifty, saving money and depositing money. The article triggered a common response among netizens.

Following the post, many netizens started to tell their own stories of saving money, such as taking makeup samples in shopping malls but not spending money to buy them. These people connect to each other on Internet and share their experiences of better saving.
