New York city reported its second swine flu death after a 50-year-old woman died of the A (H1N1) virus over the weekend, according to local media Sunday.

The woman is the city's second fatal swine flu victim and the country's 10th. Assistant public school principal Mitchell Wiener, who died May 17, was the city's first death from the virus. The 55-year-old had been sick for several days.

The woman had other health conditions, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene spokeswoman Jessica Scaperotti said. No other information on her case was disclosed.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in its report Friday confirmed nine deaths associated with swine flu in six states among more than 6,500 U.S. cases. The fatality reported Sunday makes it 10th swine flu death.
