Venezuelan health authorities reported 17 new cases of A/H1N1 influenza on Tuesday, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 152.
Venezuelan Collective Health Networks Vice Minister Nancy Perez said most of the new cases were infected in the United States and Panama.
Perez said the Venezuelan government will guarantee free medical treatment to the patients and will make efforts to curb the spread of the A/H1N1 flu virus.
School activities would be canceled if there was a major health emergency, she said.
Venezuela has not registered any H1N1 flu-related death so far.
