The Chinese mainland confirmed 45 new cases of A/H1N1 influenza from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday, bringing the total to 960 with one patient allegedly dying from electrocution.
Southern Guangdong Province reported 12 new cases, Shanghai found 10 and Beijing confirmed eight, according to the Ministry of Health.
Zhejiang Province had five new cases, Fujian Province reported four, the ministry said in a statement, adding Jiangsu Province confirmed two new cases while Chongqing Municipality, provinces of Liaoning and Shandong and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region each reported one.
A patient in Hangzhou of eastern Zhejiang Province died of electrocution caused by leakage of electricity from electrical circuits in her ward lavatory, when she was taking a shower, according to a statement jointly released by the public security, health and quality supervision departments.
Lou Yihong, a 34-year-old woman who was admitted on June 23 to a local hospital after being diagnosed with A/H1N1 flu, died in her ward lavatory at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday.
Among the patients, 660 have been discharged from hospitals, 293were being treated in hospitals and six patients were receiving medical care at their homes, the ministry noted.
