Two 23-year-old women in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, phoned up the city fire brigade on Sunday asking them to take away a rat caught in a mousetrap they had set up the previous night.

The recent university graduates, who were sharing a rented apartment, said they had set up mousetraps all over the house, but had no idea what to do with the rats once they were caught in the trap.

Four firefighters were sent over to the women's house to take away the rat.
