China's State Council Information Office (SCIO) has officially unveiled an iPad application. The "China SCIO" app is available on Apple's App Store, and its content mainly covers the sections of the website tilted "Press Conferences" "White Papers" and "China Image."

Apple's iPad users can download the application for free. The "Press Conference" section offers on-demand videos, photos and transcripts of the press conferences held by the SCIO over the years. Users can also use the notice function to immediately watch the newest press conferences online.

The "White Papers" section offers illustrated white papers released by the Chinese government over the years and comes with offline reading, automatic updates and full-text search functions. The "China Image" section offers two parts of the national image promotional films: "Figures" and "Perspectives."

This is the first time that the Chinese government has released an official app for the iPad. According to a relevant SCIO official, the main purpose of submitting the "China SCIO" app to Apple's App Store is to increase the coverage and influence of the SCIO's press conferences and white papers, to introduce China to the world in a better way and to enhance the international image of China. The content of the app will be constantly updated.
