Lofty ideal poses a beacon shining over the courageous advance of a country and a prop to sustain the indomitable spirit of a nation, and so any loft ideal is rooted deep in a nation's history and reality.
In the past 100-plus years after the Opium War of 1839-1942 fought between China and Britain, the Chinese people have realized their long-cherished dream of overthrowing the "Three Big Mountains" of imperialism, feudalism and bureaucrat capitalism, seeking the national independence, winning their liberation, and eventually establishing the People's Republic of China.
In their longstanding struggles and exploration, the Chinese people have come to know the truth that "only socialism can save China." And prolonged innovative practice since the launch of reform and the opening to the outside world in the late 1970s has irrefutably told them that taking the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics and achieving the great rejuvenation of their great nation represent the common ideal of the people of all ethnicities around the country.
The great cause requires a common ideological basis. The socialist core value system encompasses, among others, the guiding ideology of Marxism-Leninism, the common ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the national spirit with patriotism at its core, the spirit of the age with innovation at the core, and the socialist outlook of glory and disgrace.
In the present new situation with in-depth, profound changes occurred in the political and economic systems, it is imperative to go all out to build the socialist core value system, persevere in arming the whole Party and educating the entire people with newest achievements in sinifying Marxism, in using the socialist outlook of glory and disgrace to guide social, common practice and to resist the pernicious influence of varied erroneous and corrupt ideas, so as to go on enhancing the common ideological basis for the united struggles of the entire party, the whole nation and the people of all the ethnicities nationwide.
The socialist core value system has been built in the great practice of developing socialism with Chinese characteristics, and so it is duty bound for media, and other publicity and cultural departments at all levels to publicize and promote it. And it is essential to step up education among Party officials and people alike in ideological belief and moral integrity to pool wisdom and strength of the whole party, the whole nation and the people of all ethnicities nationwide, so as to work harder still and go on pioneering and advancing courageously under the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
