Chinese women duo Zhang Xi/Xue Chen scored their second preliminary victory on Tuesday, clinching a place in top 16 in the Beijing Olympic Games beach volleyball tournament.

Tian Jia and Wang Jie advanced on Monday with their second preliminary victory.

Xue Chen and Zhang Xi whipped German pair Sara Goller/Laura Ludwig in two straight sets 21-14, 21-18.

"We have advanced but we won't put us under pressure in next matches," said Xue, also the youngest player in beach volleyball tournament at the Beijing Olympics.

"We'll keep attacking our rivals and play to our best," she said.

"We place us in a low position, we are still very young," the 19-year-old beach volleyballer added.

The Germans couldn't make way to break the offensives of the 1.89-meter Xue and her 1.83-meter partner, who showed their advantage at the net and kept scoring.

The many faults made by the Germans also led to their defeat, Xue added.

The Germans made 11 failed serves in Tuesday's match.

"We had no service. Without a serve you can't win a game," said Goller after the match.

"It was very disappointing. We were expecting to win so obviously it wasn't a very good result for us. Now we have to win our last match (against Greece on Thursday)," Ludwig said.

The Chinese pair, who have netted four FIVB World Tour gold medals and were also 2006 Asian Games champions, ranked fourth on the World Tour currently.

They are believed to be serious contenders for medals along with Tian Jia/Wang Jie, who have also booked a berth in top 16.
