Chinese State Councillor Meng Jianzhu met in Beijing Sunday with visiting Pakistani Prime Minister's Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik who was here to attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games on Friday evening.
Hailing the recent development of the bilateral relations, Meng, who is also Chinese Minister of Public Security, said the bilateral cooperation between the two law enforcement organs is an important part of the bilateral relations.
Terrorism is a common threat to both China and Pakistan and the two countries working closer in fields such as anti-terrorism, campaign against organized crimes and protecting citizens abroad serves the fundamental interests of the two peoples and helps maintain regional peace and stability, Meng said.
Meng also expressed his appreciation to Pakistan's assistance during the Olympic torch relay in Pakistan and support for China's efforts to combat terrorism.
Malik said the Pakistani government attaches great importance to its ties with China and is willing to expand substantial cooperation in various fields such as law enforcement and anti-terrorism. Source:Xinhua |
