Chief Executive of Schneider Electric Jean-Pascal Tricoire said the French automation giant has witnessed the unprecedented reform and opening-up drive in China over the last three decades.
The French group began to cooperate with China's state-owned enterprises as early as in 1978 when China kicked off its reform campaign, Tricoire said in a recent interview with Xinhua.
Now China has grown into Schneider's second biggest market in the world since it established the first joint venture in China in1987, said Tricoire, noting that the company is building new plants or joint companies each year after 1995.
Tricoire, who worked in China between 1994 and 1999, said he was very impressed by China's drastic changes that are unprecedented in their scale and speed.
Only within 30 years, China has managed to lift hundreds of millions of people out of poverty and helped over 1 billion people adapt themselves to a market economy, he said.
China even played a key role in "stabilizing" the world economy during the Asian financial crisis in 1997 and the burst of Internet bubble in 2002, he said.
The French chief executive highlighted that China's traditional emphasis on education is one of the keys to China's economic growth in an era of globalization.
Many of Schneiders's Chinese employees or partners speak fluent English and have international backgrounds. They have either studied abroad or worked for a foreign company, he noted.
Through education, the Chinese government has managed to make its citizens fully prepared for globalization and the market economy, he said.
Tricoire also lauded China's efforts to improve labor insurance, social security, the rule of law and the development of the rural areas.
The chief executive, who speaks Chinese and has a Chinese name Zhao Guohua, said he was very confident about Schneider's development in China.
As the world's most populous country, China enjoys enormous potential in its economic development and Schneider will continue to invest in China, he said.
