Khalid from Yemen, studying in China, wrote an article titled "I enjoy Chinese Cuture".
"I think traditional Chinese culture is great, and Chinese people should make great efforts to protect it. I’m learning about it now, and hope that Chinese people do not ignore their traditional culture." wrote the 22-years-old boy in his article.
The full story is as follows:
"My name is Khalid. I'm from Yemen. I am 22-years-old and unmarried.
I arrived in China last year, the same year that I began learning Chinese. Learning Chinese is very interesting. I thought that I was already very good at Chinese, so I began to look towards specialized courses. I chose electrical engineering as my major and started studying this year. However, I was shocked when I arrived in class. I could not understand much content taught by the teachers.
I like China and Chinese people very much. We all know that China is quite safe, and that is why I came here to study. When I arrived, I found that China has become a beautiful country and it’s developing at an amazing pace. China plays an important role in the international community now.
I like Chinese culture very much (traditional Chinese culture), but the country has opened up and a lot of exotic foreign cultures have been introduced. I think China has very great traditional culture, and Chinese people should make great efforts to protect it. I have begun to learn Chinese culture now, and I hope that Chinese people do not ignore their traditional culture.
The weather in Shanghai is good. In winter, we can sometimes see snowfall, which is definitely very beautiful. But winter is too cold; sometimes I can’t bear it. I like spring for its warm weather. I went back to my home country in summer, because it is too hot here. Some Chinese food is delicious, while others are not. I would like to learn to cook some Chinese dishes.
Finally, I would like to thank my parents for sending me to China to study."
