TEHRAN, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast dismissed on Monday European Union claims that the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has interfered in Syria' s internal affairs, the local ISNA news agency reported.
"The EU allegation on the IRGC's relation with the Syrian recent developments without handing any proof or document is unfounded and aims to put the blame on another country," Mehmanparast was quoted as saying.
"As we have repeatedly stressed, the Syrian regime and nation enjoy enough political and social maturity and are capable to resolve their own problems," he said , adding that "the Islamic Republic respects sovereignty of all countries and denies any claim on its interference in Syrian internal affairs."
On Wednesday, reports said the EU had frozen the assets of Qods Force affiliated to IRGC for its role in providing technical assistance, equipment and support to the Syrian security forces' actions on protests.
