The Republic of Belarus (Belarus) is a sovereign state with a developed economy, rich history and unique nature. Belarus is located in the center of Europe. It is the 13th largest state in Europe and the 6th in the CIS (after Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan).
Belarus is 1.2 times bigger than Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia taken together; slightly smaller than Great Britain and Romania; more than 2.2 times bigger than Portugal and Hungary and approximately 5 times bigger than the Netherlands and Switzerland.
Belarus is a crossing point of the major trans-European railway and road routes, oil and gas pipelines, water and air routes between the economically developed Western Europe and the commodity-rich Asia.
Belarusians are friendly and hospitable people, always ready to welcome guests and acquaint them with the traditions and culture of the country.
