GRODNO OBLAST IS THE BRIDGE BETWEEN THE WESTERN EUROPE AND THE CIS AND ASIA

Administrative center: the city of Grodno (327,5 thousand people)
Population: 1 072,4 thousand people
Territory: 25,1 thousand sq.km.
Major cities: Volkovysk, Lida, Mir, Mosty, Novogrudok, Oshmyany, Slonim, Smorgon, Shchuchin

Major Sights
The Augustów Canal, Lake Svityaz, the 12th century Sts. Boris and Gleb Orthodox church, the 16th and 18th century Old and the New Royal Castles, the architectural ensembles of churches and monasteries in Grodno, the Castle Hill, the 13th-16th century castle ruins, the 15th-18th century church in Novogrudok, the 14th century castle ruins in Krevo, Smorgon district, the 16th century castle complex in Mir, Korelichi district, the 14th century castle in Lida, the 16th-17th century castle ruins in Golshany, Osmyany district, the 15th century fortress-church in Synkovichi, Zelva district, the 17th-19th century Dormition monastery in Zhirovichi, Slonim district.

The Grodno oblast is the north-west region of Belarus that borders with Lithuania and Poland. It unites 17 administrative districts (raions).
