VIENNA, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann on Tuesday said he hoped to use an upcoming visit from German Chancellor Angela Merkel as a chance to underscore the unity of the European Union (EU) in fighting the euro crisis.
Faymann said the meeting with his German counterpart was "important" and would highlight Austria's "active role," the Austrian Press Agency reported.
He said a common approach was needed to quickly find solutions to problems Europe faces in the coming months, particularly in helping countries that cannot cope on their own.
He added he intends to "reject those who suggest we go back to using our own currencies."
Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger said he would use the opportunity to denounce the "Get out of Europe" calls.
He said he agreed with Merkel's stance that Greece must implement austerity measures before receiving further financial aid, and noted that all EU countries must adopt similar "getting out of debt" measures.
