Today, every tourist and traveler may choose a holiday to his/her taste. Recently developed tourism infrastructure provides visitors with comfortable accommodation, delicious food, peculiar souvenirs, and reliable transportation. And everywhere guests receive a cordial and friendly welcome. Not by chance the popular British travel portal TravelMail included Belarus in the top ten travel destinations in 2009.
The country has a considerable potential for developing all kinds of tourism – from educational to recreational. It is true that there is no warm sea with beaches and no snow-capped mountains in Belarus, but swimming in pure lakes in summer and skiing in winter may be equally rewarding. And all the year round are available knights’ tournaments, folk festivals, sports events, concerts, theaters, museums, and guided tours.
It should be noted that the Belarusian tourism industry is implementing modern information technology. Belarus is creating a national system of online booking, which will allow any tourist to book hotel rooms in most hotels of the country. In addition, in 2012 the interactive map of Belarus will be available. The information on 5 thousand tourist attractions with optional itineraries ranging from independent tours to booked excursions will be constantly updated.
Belarus has a total of about 20 thousand tourist attractions: 14 thousand infrastructure entities (hotels, resorts, spa and recreation facilities and public catering), more than 4.6 thousand historical and cultural heritage objects (churches, monasteries, mosques, synagogues, palaces, burial mounds, etc.) that are under state protection, as well as over a thousand of natural objects and territories.
