OSAKA, Jan. 11 (Xinhua)-- Japanese airport authorities said a Boeing 787 jet operated by All Nippon Airways (ANA) from Tokyo- Haneda Airport landed safely at western Matsuyama Airport on Friday after a crack was discovered in the cockpit window, local press reported.

According to the country's public broadcaster Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK), the pilot of the ANA flight, carrying 246 passengers and crew, noticed the crack in the window around 10:45 a.m. local time on Friday, about an hour into the flight, when flying over Hyogo Prefecture, western Japan.

The report said the plane landed at Matsuyama Airport, Ehime Prefecture at 11:11 a.m. as scheduled, adding that there were no injuries.

The report cited airport officials as saying that the crack was found in one of the five glass layers, and teams from the airline company are investigating the cause of the damage.

In Japan, there is growing concern for the safety of Boeing 787 Dreamliner jet after two of the same type of Boeing's new airplanes operated by another major carrier, Japan Airlines, encountered serious incidents on Monday and Tuesday at Boston Logan international airport in the United States.
