ANKARA, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan reshuffled his cabinet and named four new ministers following a meeting with President Abdullah Gul on Thursday.

According to the reshuffle, Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin left his post to Muammer Guler, former Istanbul Governor, while Justice and Development Party's (AK Party) Deputy Chairman Omer Celik was appointed as the new minister of culture and tourism.

Nabi Avci, who heads the parliamentary Education Commission, was appointed as the new education minister and AK Party's another leader Mehmet Muezzinoglu replaced Recep Akdag as the health minister.

The reshuffle took place as the new peace talks between the Turkish government and Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) has just been initiated.

Also, the reshuffle shows that Erdogan intended to gather his best men to be well prepared for the upcoming elections.
