TEHRAN, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad-Ali Jafari, called on Sunday for "resistance" of the Syrians against Israeli pressures.

Referring to the recent attack of Israel on a Syrian "research center," Jafari said that "The Zionist regime (of Israel) can only be dealt with through resistance and retaliation," according to Press TV.

On Wednesday, the Syrian army said that Israel bombed a " scientific research center" near the Syrian-Lebanese border, leaving two people killed and five others injured in the attack. Damages to the facility were also reported.

The IRGC commander expressed hope that the Syrian nation and government would resist the pressures and injustices and "give an appropriate response to the aggression at the proper time," said the report.
