ISLAMABAD, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan Air Force (PAF) said that two Indian aircraft violated the country's airspace and entered the country's Punjab province on Tuesday.

"Two high speed Indian aircraft violated Pakistani airspace by three nautical miles at about 10:40 in Attari, Fazilka sector. The aircraft stayed inside Pakistani airspace for about two minutes," a PAF spokesman said.

Pakistan Air Force initiated prompt tactical actions and scrambled two fighter aircraft to challenge the intruders, said the spokesman in a statement.

"Upon PAF actions, Indian aircraft exited the Pakistani airspace," the statement said.

There was no immediate reaction from Indian side about the alleged violation.

Airspace violation by Pakistan and India is rare. However, both countries routinely accuse each other of intrusion and ceasefire violation in the disputed Kashmir region.
