A Miami-bound American Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing here on Saturday after reporting a problem on its cargo hold.
"The airplane was en route from Buenos Aires to Miami, when a light in the cockpit went off, indicating a possible problem in one of the cargo hold," an American Airlines statement said.
It was a Boeing 777-200 plane with 250 passengers and a crew of 14 on board, it said.
"Passengers will be transferred to other American Airlines flights or in a second plane, that is being moved to Bogota to take them to Miami," it said.
Meanwhile, metropolitan police director in Bogota, Carlos Alberto Melendez, said that one of the aircraft's cargo hold was apparently on fire, which forced it to make an emergency landing at the military airport of Catam in the Colombian capital.
No one was injured in the landing.
