No contaminated diary products imported to Malaysia: officials

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian officials said no evidence was found that contaminated whey protein concentrate in the diary product was imported into the country, local media reported Tuesday.

Health Minister S Subramaniam was quoted as saying that his ministry had not received any information that "Nutricia Karicare follow-on formula products for children from 6 months old," which were suspected of containing the whey contaminated by botulism, were sold in Malaysia.

Danone Dumex, a major diary products producer in Malaysia, has announced the recall of some of its products after New Zealand's diary giant Fonterra announced the contamination. Subramaniam said the recall was only a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, Fonterra Malaysia said none of its products sold in Malaysia were contaminated.

Other major diary producers like Dutch Lady, Nestle and Mead Johnson all said their products did not use the contaminated whey.
