"In past 24 hours, the ANP conducted several clearance operations with the cooperation of Afghan National Army, NDS ( intelligence service) and Coalition Forces in Nangarhar, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Uruzgan, Logar and Helmand provinces. As a result six armed Taliban were killed, one wounded and 25 others were arrested, " the ministry said in a statement issued here.

"Also, during these operations, the ANP discovered and confiscated some amount of light and heavy rounds ammunition," it added.

Separately, the ANP also discovered and defused four different types of landmines in northern Sar-e-Pul, eastern Logar and western Farah provinces, it noted.

The Taliban insurgent group, which has been waging an insurgency of more than one decade, has yet to make comments.
