LIBREVILLE, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Gabon's President Ali Bongo Ondimba is expected in London on Tuesday to attend an international conference on climate, state owned Gabon Television announced on Monday.
The conference was organized by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, with a theme of "Dialogue on the climate and security of resources for the 21st century."
A statement from the Gabonese president's office indicated that Ali Bongo will be the only African president to speak at this meeting.
The protection of the environment is one of the pillars of Ali Bongo's governmental policy. On Feb. 25, 2010, Gabon created the Gabonese Agency of Space Studies and Observation: Earth, Climate, Man (AGEOS-TECH), which uses a satellite to observe the Congo basin forest to detect any form of aggression against its ecosystems and to prevent its deforestation.
