Beijing, March 15-- Carrefour is exposed deceiving consumers by selling expired meat and feather-stripped chicken as free-range chicken, according to an evening party of China Central Television (CCTV) for marking the World Consumer Right Day on March 15.
It revealed that Carrefour sold feather-stripped chicken as free-range chicken with a two-fold price in a Carrefour supermarket in Zhengzhou, capital city of Henan province.
The supermarket is also exposed selling expired meat by the live show of CCTV on March 15. A reporter made secret inquiries in Carrefour by marking three expired chicken gizzards for tracking survey. He found the three gizzards were separated into three food bags with a new guarantee date on the next day.
The reporter also found that Carrefour employees re-pack unsold fresh meat before closing time for next day’s selling.
