BRAZZAVILLE, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Republic of Congo's Transport Minister Rodolphe Adada on Thursday received a new aircraft of MA 60 type which was made in China.

The plane received here will be given to the New Air Congo, one of the country's two national airlines.

The MA 60 aircraft has certain advantages such as economical fuel consumption and good adaptation to air traffic conditions in the interior of the Republic of Congo.

The aircraft can carry between 52 to 60 passengers and could be converted into a cargo plane or into a VIP version.

With two other planes acquired in 2005 and 2006, the New Air Congo will now have three MA 60 planes, something that will reinforce its capacity to continue operating domestic flights.

During the ceremony to hand over the aircraft, Xu Bo, the vice president of the Chinese company AVIC International which is specialized in importation and exportation of aeronautic products and technologies throughout the world, said his company was ready to "deepen and expand cooperation in the civil aviation domain, especially maintenance of the planes and personnel training."

Adada said the cooperation will be reinforced further with the expected construction in Congo of an aircraft maintenance center, with capability to service aircraft upto the category of the new generation Boeing 737.
