The world of competitive sports is cruel, but there are always touching moments tingling people’s hearts. Now let’s take a look at some of those special athletes at London 2012 Olympic Games.
The Blade Runner – Losing the game but winning the world
Oscar Pistorius, the South African double-amputee nicknamed the “Blade Runner”, joined the game with his blade-shaped artificial limb made of carbon fiber. He was ranked the 8th place in the men’s 400m semi-finals on Aug 6, 2012 and failed to enter the finals.
Before the game started, the audiences welcomed him with the warmest applauses. After the match, Kirani James, who finished that match at the first place, gave Oscar a big hug and exchanged his number marking on his clothes with Oscar’s in order to show his respect.
At the same time, many people forwarded a picture on Twitter, showing Oscar teaching running skills to a little girl, who is also double-amputee.
