Now world No. 1 Liu triumphed easily in a score of 11-1, 11-6, 11-4, 13-11.
"Because it is a group game, adapting to circumstance is priority," Liu said.
Singapore's Feng Tianwei overcame a 0-2 setback by beating Ai Fukuhara 4-2.
Liu will take on Yu Mengyu from Singapore on Sunday morning.
The 2013 women's table tennis World Cup, one of the table tennis "grand slam" events, attracted 20 players from 15 countries and regions.
