The first hot and shiny autumn afternoon saw a good football match between Benfica and Portuguese Cup winner Vitoria de Guimaraes who defeated precisely Benfica in the final.

Benfica's coach Jorge Jesus didn't make any change in the lineup since the last match against Belgium's Anderlecht for the UEFA Champions League. The match started harsh but very competitive. Both teams demonstrated since the very beginning that they wanted to win the match.

But the struggle in the midfield made the first half very poor in goal occasions. It was very tactical and intense first 45 minutes. The only moment to remember was a splendid pass from Enzo that gave Siqueira a chance to score but Douglas, Guimaraes goalkeeper, made a great save.

The second half started in the same fashion. The struggle was intense although Benfica started better, faster and pressing closer to the Vitoria's penalty area. That velocity led to Addy's second yellow card and subsequent red card after a fault over Enzo Perez.

And after a corner kick Benfica's superiority was materialized. Enzo Perez took a low corner that surprised Vitoria's defense and Oscar Cardozo scored his first goal this season with the help of Vitoria's defender Marco Matias, who deflected the ball from his goalkeeper.

Vitoria tried to reply but with one man less they could never bother Benfica's goalkeeper Artur.

Benfica host Belenenses next Saturday in a Lisbon derby, before travelling to Paris to play against PSG next wednesday.
