NAY PYI TAW, Dec. 12 -- The Opening Ceremony of the 27th Southeast Asia Games amazes spectators as it was rich with themes and technical settings done by Chinese experts.

It started on 5 pm (local time) with music by Myanmar famous singers and officially opened on 6 pm (local time) with count-down show and fire-crackers.

The ceremony lasted three hours of presentation before Myanmar President U Thein Sein left the stadium.

"I like the ceremony. It is wonderful and I have never seen it in my life," said Daw Zar Zar Tun after the ceremony. She came from Yangon to see the aquatics sport in which her son participates as a Myanmar national athlete.

However, U Nge Phyu, 87 years old, missed to see the grand ceremony though he biked hundreds of miles from Rakhine state to Nay Pyi Taw just to witness the opening.

The speeches made by Myanmar officials were brief but made the international guests feel at home.

"We give thanks to the ASEAN community who have confided in us to successfully host this big tournament of the SEA Games," said U Tint San, the President of Myanmar National Sports Committee and Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism and for Sports.

"We celebrate 27th Southeast Asia Games with the theme of' Green, Clean, and Friendship' so that we can feel the deeper reflection of the SEA Games as promoting friendship among ASEAN community. SEA Games is not only about sports competition but also friendship and deep understanding between each other," U Nyan Tun said in his speech.
