On Nov. 13, ex-Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishihara held a press conference and announced to launch a new party called "Taiyo no To (party of sun)" which is based on conservative opposition Sunrise Party.
Ishihara's new party is intended to establish a "great unity" of political parties and form a "third force" in Japanese politics; however, viewing from previous remarks, the "third force" is destined to shift to the right.
How much cohesion can Ishihara's new party exert? What is the prospect for Japan's "political infighting"?
It is not optimistic for Ishihara's new party to embrace a "great expectation", although the ideal is in fullness. Since other minor parties are far cry from strong conservative political views of the new party, the so called "third force" is more likely a mere vision.
