As one of the most important passes along the foot of Taihang Mountain, Niangzi Guan Pass is 55 kilometers west of Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province and crosses the border between Hebei Province and Shanxi Province on its way to Taiyuan, Shanxi Province.
Surrounded by a maze of hills and valleys, Niangziguan Pass was famed as "the Ninth Pass on the Great wall". The extant pass was built in 1542 during the Ming Dynasty. The pass is flanked by hills over l,000 meters high. In ancient times, this provided a narrow passage for men and horses.
Nianggziguan pass serves as a tourist attraction today. There are historical buildings clustered among beautiful springs and waterfalls.
