Chinese stories have long been a topic of interest for western film makers and fans. And more recent works such as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Kung-fu Panda" have proved their enduring popularity.

But here’s something new: "The Man with the Iron Fists", a Chinese martial arts film written, directed by and co-starring American rap legend Rza from the Wu-Tang Clan.

Set in 19th-century China, the story follows a series of lone warriors, who are forced to unite to defeat a common foe and save their village. Academy Award winner Russell Crowe takes the lead role, while rapper-director RZA came under the tutelage of cult favorite director Quentin Tarantino.

The maker has extended typical hip-hop swagger both visually and stylistically into the film. The movie was shot entirely in China, including the city of Shanghai.
