Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman's massive inflatable Rubber Duck will float into Beijing on September 16, Beijing Design Week’s organizing committee confirmed on July 29.
The popular Rubber Duck will not be displayed inside the capital city’s Third Ring Road, according to the organizing committee, who said it is doing this in a move to avoid inward traffic congestions caused by large numbers of visitors swarming into the downtown area to catch a glimpse of the duck.
For this reason, the duck will visit the city for one month in the waters somewhere outside the city’s Third Ring Road.
Locations such as the Kunming Lake at the Summer Palace and Aohai Lake at the Olympic Forest Park, will probably be the most appropriate venues for the duck to float around.
The Beijing Design Week, an annual international event which focuses on design, will be held from September 26 to October 3.
