China's first theater dedicated to the idol group- SNH48, Xingmeng Theater opened on Aug. 30, 2013 in Shanghai.
SNH48 is an idol group comprising a group of young and beautiful girls, with the aim to become the "approachable Chinese idols". Following Japan's famous idol group AK48B and SKE48, it was the third idol group named by "48" in the world. Yasushi Akimoto, Asian leading entertainment producer and lyric writer is the general supervisor of the group.
The theater is transformed from Jiaxing Theatre, one of the first theatres in Shanghai built in 1930s. It is equipped with a full set of modern performance equipment and can accommodate 340 spectators. It will be able to host performances 365 days a year and create a shiny stage for the national idol group.
