The Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China (中华人民共和国农业部)

The Ministry's major tasks are to work out and implement development strategies and long-term and mid-term development plans of agriculture and rural economy, direct the rational structural adjustment of agricultural industries, rational allocation of agricultural resources and improvement of produce quality, put forward suggestions regarding further system reforms of rural economy, formulate guidelines and policies regarding industrialized management of agriculture, organize the zoning of agricultural resources, ecological agriculture and sustainable agricultural development, implement the strategy of revitalizing agriculture through science and education, draw up technical standards for various agricultural industries and organize their implementation, organize the implementation of quality supervision and certification of various agricultural products and green food products and the protection of new varieties of agricultural plants, as well as organize and supervise domestic animal and plant disease prevention and quarantine.
　

农业部主要负责拟定实施农业和农村经济发展战略、中长期发展规划，引导农业产业结构的合理调整、农业资源的合理配置和产品品质的改善，研究提出深化农村经济体制改革的意见，研究制定农业产业化经营的方针政策，组织农业资源区划、生态农业和农业可持续发展工作，实施科教兴农战略，拟定农业各产业技术标准并组织实施；组织实施农业各产业产品及绿色食品的质量监督、认证和农业植物新品种的保护工作；组织、监督对国内动植物的防疫、检疫工作。
