SHIJIAZHUANG, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- A mayor in north China's Hebei Province has become entangled in a corruption scandal as an accusatory letter in the name of 29 local cadres is causing a stir online.

Liu Daqun, mayor of the city of Xingtai, has allegedly taken huge kickbacks over land sales and construction projects as well as keeping a mistress, according to the letter posted on popular websites and microblogs recently.

The letter writers said that they reported Liu's corruption to the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the CPC Central Committee two months ago.

There is no definite response from the provincial discipline inspection authorities at the moment.
