Wei Hong elected governor of Sichuan Province

CHENGDU, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Wei Hong was elected governor of southwest China's Sichuan Province on Tuesday at the first session of the 12th provincial People's Congress, the local legislature.

Wei, born in May 1954, is a native of Yinan County in east China's Shandong Province.

Wei served as vice governor of Sichuan from May 2007 to January 2013. He was appointed acting governor of Sichuan on Jan. 5 at the 35th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 11th Sichuan Provincial People's Congress.
