BEIJING/YINCHUAN, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Li Jianhua has been appointed secretary of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Regional Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), replacing Zhang Yi, the CPC Central Committee announced Tuesday.

Li, a native of Gucheng County in north China's Hebei Province, was born in September 1954 in Beijing. He is currently a member of the CPC Central Committee.

Since December 2000, Li had served as head of the Organization Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and then deputy head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.

In March 2011, Li was appointed Party chief and vice president of the Chinese Academy of Governance.

Zhang Yi is now the Party chief of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.

Zhang was appointed Party chief of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in July 2010 and was reelected in June 2012.

Zhang was born in August 1950. Previously, he had served as deputy secretary of the CPC provincial committees in Heilongjiang and Hebei provinces. He became deputy secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection in October 2007.
