The Gold Mine Force of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (APF) has prospected dozens of tons of gold resources and tens of thousands of tons of metal resources, and completed thousands of square kilometers of regional geological and mineral exploration since its transitional development in 2012, the reporter learnt from the force in early January 2013.

According to related arrangements by the State Council and the Central Military Commission (CMC) in December 2011, the APF Gold Mine Force made a transition from prospecting mines mainly for gold resources to undertaking such tasks as basic non-profit geological work and tasks, poly-metallic mineral resource exploration and geological disaster emergency rescue, with the focus on regional geological survey and mineral prospective investigation.

In the past year, in accordance with China's medium- and long-term strategic layout and planning of geological exploration, the APF Gold Mine Force has focused on western remote and difficult areas, important mineral resource areas and geological-disaster-prone areas, and established a new pattern of moving northward and westward, according to a leader of the force.
