STOCKHOLM, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Swedish government decided on Thursday that Swedish Armed Forces could send 15 personnel at most for the European Union's (EU) military training mission in Mali (EUTM Mali).

The decision meant that the personnel from Swedish Armed Forces would start to contribute to EU's training mission in Mali from Feb. 8 in 2013 at the latest, said the government.

The EU was now negotiating with its member states on the use of grants for the training in Mali.

The Swedish Armed Forces would also have to report its grant for the training to the government offices on Feb. 8 at the latest.

Last October, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2071 in which it called on countries to help Mali train and strengthen its defense and security forces.

The EU Foreign Affairs Council on Jan. 17 decided to establish an EU training mission in Mali to support the training and reorganization of the Malian Armed Forces.
