GSH: Being able to fight and winning battles are essential for powerful military

The General Staff Headquarters (GSH) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) published a nearly-4,000-Chinese-character article entitled Promote Military Work by Closely Centering on Being Able to Fight and Winning Battles in the third issue of the Qiushi Journal of 2013.

The article pointed out that with a view to the development and changes of the international strategic situation and the national security environment, Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the Communist Party of China (CPC), stressed that it is imperative to bear in mind that being able to fight and winning battles are essential to building a powerful military and ensure that the PLA is always ready to assemble at the first call and is capable of fighting and winning. The important instruction has pointed the way for accelerating the modernization construction of the national defense and the military.

The PLA is an armed group entrusted with the Party's political tasks. Being able to fight and winning battles are the fundamental requirements of the Party and the people for the PLA, and also are the basic starting point and the foothold of military struggle preparations.

In carrying out Chairman Xi Jinping's important instruction, it is essential to strengthen the thought on battle, make preparations for battle, improve the capability for battle and adhere to the standards of battle, and strive to build a people's army that follows the Party's command, has the ability to win battles and has a fine work style.
