CTF 151 commander visits 14th Chinese naval escort taskforce

BEIJING, May 5, (ChinaMil) -- Giam Hock Hoon, commander of the Combined Task Force 151 (CTF151), visited the "Harbin" guided missile destroyer of the 14th escort taskforce under the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) which was on an escort mission in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off the Somali coast, and met and exchanged his views with Yuan Yubai, commander of the 14th Chinese naval escort taskforce, on the morning of May 4, 2013, local time.

During the meeting, the two commanders exchanged their views on escort operation modes and methods as well as intelligence and information collection, etc., discussed the current escort situation in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off the Somali coast, and also exchanged their views on the cooperation in information-sharing and intelligence exchange during escort operations.

The CTF 151 is composed of naval ships of 28 countries including the United States, Britain, Indonesia and Singapore, with the post of its commander rotating among the commanders of the naval ships of the member states. The CTF 151 protects the ships passing the Gulf of Aden in the form of regional escort.
