BEIJING, Aug. 29 -- Chinese and Pakistani air forces will take part in a joint drill from Sept. 2 to 22 in northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Chinese Defense Ministry announced Thursday.
The drill, code-named "Shaheen-2," will be held in Hetian Prefecture, said ministry spokesman Yang Yujun at a monthly press briefing.
This is another cooperative project between the two air forces after the "Shaheen-1" drill in Pakistan in March 2011, he said.
"Shaheen" means eagle in Urdu, Pakistan's native language.
